The expert Piet du Pisani talks about the regeneration of water for direct consumption

Invited by the Spanish Association for the Sustainable Reuse of Water (ASERSA), of which the AMB is a member, the expert on water regeneration Piet du Pisani, a strategic executive of water cycle services in the city of Windhoek, the capital of Namibia, gave a conference on water regeneration techniques to turn wastewater into drinking water.

During the conference, Pisani explained the technical processes behind regeneration and encouraged other parts of the world (in this case, the Mediterranean region) to put it into practice, not only during emergency episodes (drought) but continuously, to build trust among citizens and guarantee such a basic service such as water.

The strategies carried out by Pisani in Namibia have meant that Windhoek can guarantee water supply to its population, which would be impossible otherwise, due to the extremely dry climate and the fact that the city is surrounded by deserts.

The conference took place on the 13th of May at the Colet Museum in Barcelona. As well as ASERSA, other entities also took part in the organisation, such as the AMB, Aqualogy and Veolia; and also with the collaboration of the Advisory Council for Sustainable Development.
